Antalya - Overview

Antalya is Turkey's main resort in the Mediterranean region. It’s a lovely city with palm lined streets and attractive marina. In the old quarter called Kaleici, narrow meandering streets and colourful houses wind up and down the gently sloping lanes.

There are some weird themed hotels here that celebrate Russia, Venice and so on. It’s very much the tourist capital of Turkey. The city of Antalya is on Antayla bay, on a rocky coastline. The Taurus mountains loom above, well are a backdrop at least. Never heard of them? The range includes Mount Ararat, where Noah’s Ark landed. The range also includes Europe’s highest peak, the 18500 foot Mount Elbrus.

Olympos and the Fires of Chimaera - Antalya Holidays

These ancient ruins date back to the second century B.C. and are all that remain of a once important Lycian city. Chimera is near to Olympos and, wait for it, fire spontaneously erupts from holes in the mountain there. What about THAT then?! To get the best of the effects of the Chimaera it is best to visit in the evening.
